I came across you are posting here by mistake - and it made me sad. I fell in love with Doctor Who in 2005 ... Then of course I had to go back and watch The originals from the 60s. Brilliant writing ... Probably the most creative storyline with the most possibilities of any TV series in history ... For me it started to go downhill because I really disliked Peter Capaldi's interpretation of the doctor ... Something I was really excited for ... And I figured maybe it would just take me some time to warm up to the Peter Capaldi "interpretation" (but really I found myself disliking the character of "The Doctor" with Capaldi in the role ... BUT IT WAS THE WRITING MORE THAN ANYTHING that just killed Doctor Who for me. They really began with the woke story line with Peter Capaldi's "Doctor" (comparatively, much more subtle then it would ultimately become - but "in your face" -- comparatively -- from previous incarnations) ... And I had stopped watching with great sadness and disappointment ... When Jodie Whittaker came about, I was so excited and had hoped that just making her a woman, would be enough to satisfy the "woke agenda" and get back to great story writing - but no such luck - I HAD MY FINGERS CROSSED WITH THIS NEW DOCTOR ... I MIGHT GIVE IT A CHANCE AGAIN ... The term "Go Woke - Go Broke, had gained so much traction in Hollywood and beyond - not just in social media and not just in certain circles - but at box offices and ratings everywhere ... Sooo ... surely would have woken up showrunners and studios by now?? Alas the Doctor Who world died, at least in my mind, after Matt Smith ... I'm in my early fifties so maybe I'm not the target audience ... But growing up in the San Francisco Bay area and living in more than one country ... Having an extremely diverse group of friends and family - in many different age brackets - even the young activists I know in my life are pretty sick of sacrificing good storytelling and acting for the in-your-face WOKE productions. The showrunners in studios have just got to be so out of touch because they are actually laughed at - I feel bad for the actors and the people who work so hard to put out the production -but the fans that truly span beyond the target market really is more of the bread and butter than they realize. I'm not explaining myself very well, I'm just so incredibly disappointed because I keep hoping that one day I'll be able to go back and watch Doctor Who and actually recognize it ... Actually care about it, maybe even enjoy it. What the heck are they thinking? WITH THAT SAID, AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR, I TAKE OUT MY DVDS ... AND WATCH THE REAL DOCTOR WHO - FROM THE FIRST DOCTOR TO THE 11TH ---- AND FALL IN LOVE WITH IT ALL OVER AGAIN ....
